This looks a competitive renewal of this Listed race which was won by subsequent Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn back in 2015. Kew Gardens will likely be a warm order here on the back of his win over 1m2f in October. The slight drop back in trip is a concern on his return today though and with that in mind, a chance is taken on MILDENBERGER, who seemed to be crying out for the step up in trip last season and the form of his latest 3rd back in September could not have worked out much better.

J: William Buick T: Charlie Appleby
Made a promising debut under rules when 2nd at Haydock in June. Built on that effort to win at Newbury in July seemed to appreciate the ease in the ground there so will have no issue with today’s conditions. Poor effort on his final start of last season at Chantilly, has to bounce back from that on his return but first-time cheekpieces are now tried.

J: Ryan Moore T: Aidan O'Brien, Ireland
Bolted up in a Killarney maiden back in August and bumped into stablemates Nelson and Saxon Warrior in Group races afterwards. Last seen winning a Listed race over 1m2f here in October by over 3 lengths. Returns from a winter break now with ground conditions no concern but this is likely a trip short of his best.

J: Jim Crowley T: Hugo Palmer
Looked a progressive sort before disappointing over a mile here in October. Half-brother to Jally who won over a mile but that last effort does raise stamina doubts over todays trip. Has had a wind operation since that last run and has a first-time tongue-tie fitted today but needs to bounce back here on his return from a 185-day break.

J: Andrea Atzeni T: Marco Botti
Had some useful form to his name as a 2-year old last season with the form of his win at Doncaster in July being franked since. Came up short in two attempts in Listed company towards the backend of last season but made a promising return from a 158-day break when 3rd at Newcastle last month, claims here if building on that run.

Came up short in a Group 3 here in September but had been a 7f winner over the July course prior to that. Returned from a break to finish 3rd at Kempton last month but was very disappointing in a Listed race at Newcastle last time out. Has to show more here on his return to turf in a much stronger race.
Mildenberger silk
J: James Doyle T: Mark Johnston
Won his first two starts under rules before finishing 3rd in the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood in August. Returned to winning ways in a Listed race at Salisbury later that month and last seen finishing 3rd in a strong renewal of the Royal Lodge Stakes in September. Should be very competitive today if forward enough on his return.

J: Frankie Dettori T: John Gosden
Made a respectable debut at Kempton in October when 2nd to fellow debutant Kassar. Did not really have to improve on that form to win an average maiden at Nottingham later that month. Returns from a 181-day break now and in much stronger company, has to improve on what he shown so far if he is to feature here.
New Show silk
New Show
J: Tom Eaves T: Kevin Ryan
Dam Music Show won the Falmouth Stakes over a mile here in 2010. Made an impressive debut at Ayr in July to win by just over a length. Form of that race is not outstanding, and this is a tough ask today on his return from a 260-day break. Yard have made a promising start to the season however and he is by far the least exposed runner here.
