IN SUMMARY: FIRENZE FIRE is a big price here for a Grade 1 winner, especially one coming off a Belmont contest. He has a much better draw to work from than the favourite Bolt D’Oro and at the prices he gets the vote. Clearly Bolt D’Oro is a special colt but this is the deepest contest he has faced from the worst draw so he is a short enough price. Good Magic was only just behind the selection last time, he and Free Drop Billy who showed improvement stepped up to this trip can fight out the places.

U S NAVY FLAG – Multiple Group 1 winner on turf this season, he tries dirt for the first time here. Career best when stepped up to seven furlongs last time so this sharp mile shouldn’t be an issue, though the surface is a huge unknown.

SOLOMINI – Beaten out of sight by Bolt D’Oro in the FrontRunner Stakes last time, there is no reason to think that he could turn that huge deficit round. Place chance at best, does at least remain with the scope for better.

FIRENZE FIRE – Looked strong at this trip winning a Grade 1 in New York last time. That is the second strongest piece of dirt form on show, yet he is available at a double figure price. Too big to ignore from an each way point of view.

GIVEMEAMINIT – In front of Firenze Fire when that horse flopped at Saratoga in September but has flopped since himself. A long way behind Free Drop Billy on that occasion, he looks to have his work cut out here.

FREE DROP BILLY – Impressive when taking the Grade 1 Futurity last time, the further he went the better. He was beaten on his debut by Firenze Fire. never able to pick him up over shorter. Solid each way chance in this field.

GOOD MAGIC – Just outbattled when behind Firenze Fire in a Grade 1 last time. He travelled up in the style of a smart animal, he may yet come on for that experience but could find more race hardened rivals having his measure once more.

THE TABULATOR – Steadily moving up in class, he has shown a smart turn of foot to put his races to bed. Yet to run above Grade 3 level, this demands more of him but he has a smart attitude and could easily outrun his price.

BAHAMIAN – Has experience of the track when beaten by Solomini. A long way behind Firenze Fire last time, he has a fight on his hands to not be the last finisher, impossible task in this company.

HAZIT – Another to finish well adrift of Firenze Fire last time out in New York, he has plentyon his plate if he wants to turn the tables on that rival. Others with considerably more to recommend them.

GOLDEN DRAGON – Steadily improving in turf events, he faces a very different task here on dirt. His battle will be with Bahamian at the back end of the field.

BOLT D’ORO – Has looked a potential star in the making, winning the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes with ease last time. Things all went perfectly for him there, this wider draw will make things harder, the one to beat but a short enough price nonetheless.

HOLLYWOOD STAR – Steadily progressive at a lower level, this is a whole different ball game for him. It would be a significant surprise if he is capable of getting into the frame on this occasion.
