An interesting handicap here, Medieval has some interesting form to his name and looks a contender with Ryan Moore booked for the first time. He is 6 pounds higher than when winning last time out however and at the prices, STAMP HILL looks the one to be on today. He ran out a surprise winner at Ascot back in July beating Mjjack by just over a length but is better off at the weights with that rival today so looks good value to confirm that form. He has struggled in two starts after that win but he is now tried in a first-time visor and he should play a major part in proceedings if the headgear works.

Absolutely So
J: Joshua Bryan T: Andrew Balding
His last handicap win came back in May 2014 off a 15 pounds lower mark, but he has won two Listed races and a Group 3 since. Last seen finishing well down the field in a Group 2 over today’s course and distance in October. Returns from a 186-day break in much calmer waters today but likely vulnerable to a better handicapped rival.
Donncha silk
J: Jim Crowley T: Robert Eddery
Finished 3rd in last season’s renewal of the Lincoln, but his form dipped afterwards and ended last season well beaten in a handicap on the July course. Was gelded after that effort and returned from a 252-day to contest this year’s renewal of the Lincoln. Only managed 11th there though and questions to answer now.
Taurean Star silk
Taurean Star
J: Oisin Murphy T: Ralph Beckett
Sold for 16,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Autumn sales in October. Now makes his debut for Ralph Beckett today. In poor form when last seen towards the backend of last season but has subsequently been dropped to his last winning handicap mark. Market likely the best guide to his chances today.
Robero silk
J: Silvestre De Sousa T: Michael Easterby
His last win came at Pontefract back in July over 6f. Struggled in handicaps afterwards including over today’s course and distance when 9th in September. Slightly better when 7th at Doncaster last time out. Returns from a 157-day break today and has now dropped back to his last winning handicap mark.

J: Jamie Spencer T: William Jarvis
Won well over this trip at Epsom in June. Showed solid form afterwards including when beaten only a neck into 2nd by last month’s Lincoln winner Addeybb in a handicap at Ascot in July. His hold-up style requires everything to drop right for him, but he should have a decent pace to aim at today and Jamie Spencer is booked to ride.
Gossiping silk
J: Shane Kelly T: Gary Moore
Won well over this trip at Goodwood in May but form afterwards took a serious dip. The switch back to the all-weather failed to spark any improvement recently, and it is tough to recommend his chances back on turf today still 4 pounds higher than his last winning handicap mark.
Medieval silk
J: Ryan Moore T: Paul Cole
Had a promising 2-year old campaign including a win at Epsom when beating the now 113-rated Defoe. Had a tough start to last season but seemed to improve for a gelding operation and was a good winner over this course and distance when last seen back in September. Ryan Moore and interesting booking here and a 6 pounds rise looks manageable.
Take The Helm silk

J: Adam McNamara T: Brian Meehan
Returns to turf for the first time since October 2016. In great heart on the all-weather last year and returned last month with a respectable 4th at Chelmsford. Backed that effort up to win the opening race on all-weather finals day last time out. Raised 4 pounds for that effort and yet to win in 9 starts on turf.
Medahim silk
J: Frankie Dettori T: Richard Hannon
Had shown some inconsistent form last summer before winning on the July course over a mile. Likely found the soft ground against him when 3rd in a 7f handicap at Goodwood in August. Last seen finishing 4th back over a mile at York later that month. Returns from a significant break now but has been gelded since his last run.
Inshiraah silk
J: Harry Bentley T: George Peckham
Game winner over this trip on the July course last summer and backed that effort up back over the same course and distance to win again later that month. The latter of those wins came on similar ground to this. Off the track for 262-days now though and a 10 pounds rise demands more on her return.
Love Dreams silk
Love Dreams
J: P. J. McDonald T: Mark Johnston
Bolted up off a mark of 91 over this trip in July. Struggled for form in three starts afterwards and returned from a 200-day break to finish 6th in a handicap at Southwell last month. Potentially did not take to the Fibresand conditions there. Returns to turf now and still 6 pounds higher than his last winning mark, others are preferred.

J: Paul Hanagan T: Richard Fahey
Caused a shock at Ascot in July when running out a 50/1 winner, the first-time blinkers seemed to cause significant improvement there. He was beaten over 20 lengths in the Lincoln last time out, but should do much better now with that run under his belt. First-time visor is now tried and if it has the same effect as the blinkers he could out run his odds.
Mjjack silk
J: Clifford Lee T: K. R. Burke
Could only manage 5th in a Listed race at Doncaster on his return from a 147-day break last month. Well supported in the market there which suggests better was expected of him there. Steps back up to 7f now which should suit him but needs to show more if he is going to win off this handicap mark.
White Lake silk
White Lake
J: Andrea Atzeni T: Roger Varian
Has had just the six starts under rules since finishing last at this meeting in the 2015 renewal of the Craven Stakes. Has been restricted to just the four starts for Roger Varian but returned to form when 6th in the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot in October. Has the potential to feature here, but inconsistent profile suggests he is no good thing to back that effort up.
Accession silk
J: Stevie Donohoe T: Charlie Fellowes
His last three wins have all come at Newmarket with two being over today’s course and distance. The most recent of those wins came in August on the July course. He struggled in two starts afterwards off this handicap mark however and may need to be dropped a few pounds before returning to his best form.
Pastime silk
J: Aaron Jones T: Gay Kelleway
Winner on handicap debut at Newcastle in June and although failing to add to that win in eight starts since he has climbed up 12 pounds. Not beaten far into 5th at Doncaster last month in first-time cheekpieces. That headgear is retained today, and he runs from a pound lower mark, respected but others preferred today.
