If Broadhaven Honey or Archimedes can return to their recent respective course and distance winning-form they would each stand decent chances, but doubts linger over both of them. RED STRIPES ran well dropped to Class 6 company last time at Wolverhampton and is now fancied to go one better than his second place that day, he still appeals as being on the right side of the handicapper as he is now only 1lb higher than when winning at Chelmsford in January.
Crosse Fire | J: Luke Morris T: Scott Dixon
A five-time winner here who is now 8lbs lower than the last of those wins, has ran here all of his last 8 starts but has finished no better than third. Drops into Class 6 company for just the second time today with his previous run resulting in a win and Luke Morris on board.
Red Stripes | J: Gabriele Malune T: Lisa Williamson
Highly tried 6-year-old with all of his 6 wins coming on artificial surfaces, most recent of them was at Chelmsford in January. Dropped to a Class 6 race at Wolverhampton last time ran a good race to finish second, now racing off effectively just 1lb higher than at Chelmsford.
Broadhaven Honey | J: Jason Watson T: Ronald Harris
Pulled right clear when a runaway winner on Fibresand debut in November, disappointed back here latest but dropped 2lbs and now has 7lbs claimer taking extra weight off. Difficult to predict but less exposed than the majority of her rivals if coming back to her November form.
Archimedes | J: Josephine Gordon T: David C. Griffiths
Up 3lbs for win over this course and distance earlier this month, not as good when only managing 5th just 5 days later over 6f. The drop back in trip will be a positive for him here and won over course and distance from this mark last year. Good chance if these runs in quick succession haven't take their toll.
Santafiora | J: Callum Rodriguez T: Julie Camacho
Winner on debut in a Bath Novice Stakes race back in 2016 for Roger Charlton, well beaten in all 6 runs for that yard afterwards and sold for £8,000 in November. Made debut for the Julie Camacho stable in November but again finished well down the field, difficult to see a revival on Fibresand debut.
Tidal's Baby | J: Fran Berry T: Adrian Brendan Joyce, Ireland
Poor strike-rate with just 3 wins in 72 runs, last of those wins coming back in 2013. Has shown improved form for this yard recently since the fitting of blinkers which are retained today. First run on Fibresand but more than likely to find a few too good yet again.
Elegant Joan | J: Andrew Mullen T: David C. Griffiths
Has ran poorly on Fibresand before, 3-year-old filly is out of the handicap here. Dropped another 4lbs for her run at Wolverhampton earlier this month, difficult to see her making a mark in a better race. Trainer tries first time cheekpeices to eke out some improvement.
