4.58pm Crayford Race Preview 09/08/2018

A new week and another myracing.com greyhound syndicate runner at Crayford. This time it’s Jacobs Fire’s turn to burn up the track, seeking glory for the first time over 6 bends. We’ll be at Monmore for our greyhound tips tonight as we look to go through the heats of the category one Gold Cup Competition.

4.58pm Crayford 09/08/2018 S4 Grade

Trap 1 Pesky Tess – Decent strike rate recently over the marathon 714m trip at Crayford. Has enough early to make her presence known but it would be a negative this drop back in trip where she hasn’t really enjoyed as much success lately. If she broke and grabbed the rail she could certainly serve it up but there might be one or two in this that have a bit more to give.

Trap 2 Galtee Elsa – Always produces her best here and is rarely out of the picture as they turn for the judge. She’s coming to hand since her seasonal rest and we think she is a player in this field. Enough early to dominate the inside line and as we’ve seen before if she can get clear off the front the others will have to go some to catch her.

Trap 3 Classical Girl – Moving through the grades for Jim Daly at a rapid rate. We were at Jim’s kennel open day last Sunday and this dog looked a picture in the paddock. Like the dog inside of her she’s got bags of early pace and that has been her main asset over this trip. The only concern would be a strong runner in behind.

Trap 4 Jacobs Fire – We were lucky enough to be in attendance for Jacob’s final trial on Saturday, she looked a natural stepping up in trip. This isn’t an easy race for her first attempt and we’d just like to see how she goes through the race. If she was to find herself in a handy position as they turned for home we certainly have nothing to worry about in the stamina department.

Trap 5 Canine Charm – Not a lot to go on in terms of Crayford form for this dog. She’s certainly been highly tried at different locations around the country and to be fair she’s ran well. Her inexperience around this track would be a worry and for that reason we would avoid her today. Give her a couple of months and no doubt she has the talent to take a race like this.

Trap 6 Carlys Girl – 3 wins in 6 race at this level around Crayford. Fitness is returning post season and we think she could pose a danger to all in this field. Loads of early and she cuts in at the bend which could be a nightmare for the rest of the field. If she is allowed to control the race she could really put a performance in. The only negative would be that we don’t know how fit she is yet.

Conclusion

Fire has been thrown in the deep-end a bit here. Shes young and still learning the game, this type of race will be great for education but it might just be a little bit too soon to be expecting her to win it. We have however been wrong before. Looking at the rest of the field it is laden with early pace. T6 could be the fly in the ointment for the the speedy dogs inside and if she was to cut in the race would be over very quickly.

We have the full race-card for this race and the rest of Crayford today.
