Precious little value to be had in backing the favourite here carrying a seven pounds penalty and there is better value to be had by backing MAHLER’S FIRST (Each Way) instead. He has shown a few glimmers of ability and runs off a very workable mark for trainer Victor Dartnall and he could

Muhtaris silk
J: Edward Austin T: Ian Williams
A winner at Newton Abbot back in 2016 but nothing in just the four races since, suggesting he has had his issues. Last time out he finished last of eleven on the flat at Kempton on his first run after leaving trainer James Evans, but he should strip fitter now after his first run in fifteen months.
Drops Of Jupitor silk
Drops Of Jupitor
J: Richie McLernon T: Anthony Honeyball
She took a course and distance novice by eight lengths in December before moving in to handicap company where she has found her rating on the high side with seven length fourth here last time out. She has been put down four pounds for that but her stable seem out of form lately after a decent spell.
Master Work silk
Master Work
J: Tom O'Brien T: Philip Hobbs
Pretty disappointing after his winning debut here over course and distance promised so much back in October, and he returns here looking to bounce back at a track he clearly handles. Beaten twenty-two lengths at Huntingdon last time but drops in class and down another three pounds this afternoon.
Rainy Day Dylan silk
Rainy Day Dylan
J: Noel Fehily T: Neil Mulholland
Interesting contender for the in-form Neil Mulholland yard having won at Wincanton in a first time hood in January and ran to a similar level when stepped up in trip to finish a seven length second at Southwell last month. Trip looks ideal now and can run a decent race again.
Choix Des Armes silk
Choix Des Armes
J: Sam Twiston-Davies T: Paul Nicholls
A winner last time out at Wincanton by an easy twelve lengths for Paul Nicholls whose string seem to be firing on all cylinders lately. That was his handicap debut and a seven pound penalty may not be enough to stop him following up this afternoon with Sam Twiston-Davies in the saddle but his price is very poor in such a compeitive looking heat.
Take A Break silk
Take A Break
J: Tom Buckley T: Nigel Hawke
In good heart lately with a third at Carlisle followed by a length and three-quarter second at Sedgefield off the same rating has he shoulders here. His best form is all on heavy ground and this may be a touch too quick for him if it continues to dry out until race time.
The Brothers silk
The Brothers
J: Harry Cobden T: Colin Tizzard
Lightly raced with just the six unsuccessful starts so far for Colin Tizard with a Wincanton third off a pound higher in his handicap debut the highlight so far. Upped slightly in trip today and looks the sort to get better with more experience.
Mr Fickle silk
Mr Fickle
J: Jamie Moore T: Gary Moore
Jamie Moore rides for Gary Moore here and the nine-year-old arrives here with fifty-four races worth of experience and seven wins to his name, three of them over hurdles. This will be his first ever run at Exeter and he looks in the grip of the handicapper at present (he has won off of higher but that was in 2015), and he looks happier over further than this these days.
Tea Time Fred silk
Tea Time Fred
J: Lucy Gardner T: Susan Gardner
Two wins from twenty-three starts for the son of top sire Kayf Tara, the latest at Stratford over three and a quarter miles in May 2016. Out of sorts lately with a thirty-five length sixth here in February before unseating at Fontwell, but likely to find these too quick for him over this distance.
The Mighty Ash silk
The Mighty Ash
J: Mr Michael Legg T: Fiona Shaw
Blinkered first time this afternoon after a sixteen length third at Kempton where he tried to make the running over three furlongs further. Yet to win over hurdles, he may try to make the running again today and if the headgear helps him focus he may prove harder to catch.
Mahler's First silk
Mahler's First
J: Ciaran Gethings T: Victor Dartnall
Lightly raced with just the four starts and yet to bother the judge with a fifth of eight at Wincanton last time out the nearest he has finished so far. Makes his handicap debut now off a mark of 102 which looks sorely tempting, and one his shrewd trainer can exploit to the full, and he looks to have a rock solid each way chance in this field and at these weights.
Samson's Reach silk
Samson's Reach
J: Daryl Jacob T: Richard Price
Won on his handicap debut at Warwick in December but something has gone wrong and he has been pulled up in all three starts since, though he did lose a shoe in February and blundered badly at Ludlow in February. Tailed off last time out at Hereford, he drops back in trip again now but still has a lot to do off just one pound lower.
Kayf Charmer silk
Kayf Charmer
J: Sean Houlihan T: Linda Blackford
Three career wins over hurdles, the latest at Ffos Las in December 2016 but signs of a return to form last time out when third to Flight To Nowhere at Chepstow last month. That was his first run following wind surgery so he may well improve again this afternoon and of a mark two pounds lower than his last victory, he has to be considered.
