A tough handicap to solve with various conflicting form lines but it may be worth risking BUFFALO BALLET (Each Way) here as he looks to put a run of seconds behind him. Weighted to go well, he has conditions in his favour and ought to be able to mount a very strong challenge in this line-up.

Silver Tassie silk
Silver Tassie
J: Alain Cawley T: Micky Hammond
Top weight for Micky Hammond’s ten-year-old gelding who finished a respectable third to Gonalston Cloud at Wetherby when last seen on the track at the end of March when beaten fourteen lengths at the line and looking one paced close home. His last win was off a pound higher at Ayr in March 2017 and as he looked to be coming back to his best on his last run, he has to have a decent chance here.
Newtown Lad silk
Newtown Lad
J: Derek Fox T: Lucinda Russell
A first time visor is added by trainer Lucinda Russell after the son of Craigsteel was pulled up for the second time in three outings this season at Carlisle, though he did remind us of his talent when a length second to De Vous A Moi at Newcastle. He has won twice over fences off lower marks and the headgear needs to bring some improvement if he wants to get involved.
Looksnowtlikebrian silk
Looksnowtlikebrian
J: Richard Johnson T: Tim Vaughan
Hat-trick seeker and the only last time out winner in this field after giving supporters plenty of concerns over two and a half miles at Ayr in February. Likely to be far happier back at this sort of trip he gets to run off the same rating here and has to have a decent chance, assuming he stays the three and a quarter miles he faces this afternoon.
Scotswell silk
Scotswell
J: Thomas Dowson T: Harriet Graham
Won this very race last season for trainer Harriet Graham and back for another try in 2018 off a rating five pounds higher here. Now a twelve-year-old, he has only had the two starts since that win, both of them over hurdles and looks to have been saved for this race specifically, and if that is correct he has to be of some interest here.
Streets Of Promise silk
Streets Of Promise
J: Tom Scudamore T: Michael Scudamore
Placed in his last two starts at Chepstow and Haydock, beaten fifteen lengths last time out over quarter of a mile further in a similar race when sent off joint favourite, and a repeat of that efforts suggests a huge run for trainer David Pipe and jockey Tom Scudamore off exactly the same rating.
Royal Salute silk
Royal Salute
J: Jonathon Bewley T: George Bewley
Not exactly having the best of seasons for trainer George Bewley with his four starts for this stable since leaving Anthony Honeyball in October last year. A faller at Ayr at the last when coming under pressure, he has raced three times since, pulling up at both Ayr and Catterick, before actually completing the course at Carlisle when a sixty length fourth over a furlong shorter. He has his first run over fences for this stable but has won off three pounds higher and could be a bit of a dark horse here.
Smuggler's Stash silk
Smuggler's Stash
J: Ryan Day T: Rose Dobbin
In great form in 2018 with a third at Sedgefield in January and wins at Ayr in February and March before a plugging on fourth to Achill Road Boy over this trip off his new rating at the end of March. Same rating here and may be in the handicappers grasp at present.
Buffalo Ballet silk
Buffalo Ballet
J: Lucy Alexander T: N. W. Alexander
Seconditus lately after finishing runner-up at Ayr twice and then at Haydock when beaten seven lengths over two miles seven when looking as if he failed to stay. Looks as if he still has a bit more to offer at this game and won't be far away at the finish at these weights today.
Lowanbehold silk
Lowanbehold
J: Thomas Willmott T: Sandy Forster
One win and four top four finishes so far this season with a sixteen length third over this distance last time out at Carlisle. Three wins from eighteen starts over fences, the latest over four miles at Hexham in November and clearly no stamina issues, but runs off a higher rating today and has to carry one pound more than his handicap mark.
