IN SUMMARY: This can go to DARK ASTER, who was upped to 2m 5f on only her second hurdling start and she acquitted herself extremely well to finish third. She was outpaced when the leaders went for home but did some very eye-catching late work to close the deficit late on. She now makes her handicap debut off a very workable mark, with a step up to this distance another big positive positive for this point winner.
Braventara | J: A. P. Heskin T: Tom George
Returned this season with a great third at Ludlow last month, only beaten three lengths. She's only two pounds higher here and she's still unexposed as a stayer, with her connections in flying form. Softer ground is perfectly fine and she won't be far away if settling.
Tambura | J: Mr Z. Baker T: G. C. Maundrell
Six pounds below her last winning mark but this eight year old is extremely quirky, tending to stay on when its all over. Her latest run at Plumpton was extremely disappointing, never consenting to get on terms and despite being so well treated, it's impossible to be confident on her chances.
Dark Aster | J: Micheal Nolan T: Richard Mitford-Slade
Point winner who improved on her debut with a good third at Warwick last time, shaping extremely well over the 2m 5f distance. She now goes up in distance on handicap debut, which should prompt further improvement. Today's ground is perfect for her and she holds leading claims.
Lagavara | J: Sam Twiston-Davies T: Nigel Twiston-Davies
Won two starts ago at Leicester but off her new mark she was pulled up at Wincanton last time. She now steps up in trip which is a big unknown and she needs a career best to be overcoming this mark in this grade. Should find at least a few of these too strong.
Midnight Glory | J: Richard Johnson T: Philip Hobbs
Yet to add to her maiden victory at Newbury back in January 2017, disappointing on her latest start at Doncaster when upped to this trip. A return to soft ground is ideal but she needs to prove her stamina at this distance. Looks vulnerable to a stronger stayer.
