There were distinct signs that OSCAR O’SCAR was peaking in time for this afternoon when third in a photo finish at Sedgefield last time out and kindly left on the same mark he can win this.

Always Tipsy
J: Lucy Alexander T: N. W. Alexander
One win from four starts this season at Friars Haugh in a three mile point to point but his return to racing under rules for the Alexander yard didn’t go as hoped when the nine-year-old was pulled up at Carlisle after losing touch after the eighth. Five out of eight wins out in the field but up against it in this class and may well be better off being saved for Hunter Chases where his talent could be exploited to the full.
So Satisfied silk
So Satisfied
J: Ross Chapman T: Iain Jardine
The deeper the ground the better for this seven-year-old who has won two of his sixteen starts over fences including at Catterick in January 2018. Put up four pounds for that he has since finished a twenty-two length fourth at Musselburgh after being upped in class on quicker ground, and without further rain he may well struggle again here.

J: Finian O'Toole T: Micky Hammond
Two wins from thirty-one starts in total, sixteen of them over fences but none since March 2016, a run of twelve defeats in a row now. He did look as if he was back to very close to his best last time when third in a photo finish at Sedgefield beaten a short neck in total over shorter when running on late and back up in trip off the same rating, he won’t be far away this afternoon.

J: Callum Bewley T: Raymond Shiels
Not getting any better at the age of twelve and fully exposed after forty-four career starts though he has won six of them off ratings up to 120, and only has to suffer a mark of 102 today. Third last time out at Carlisle and he may well pick up a bit more place money here though a win may be beyond him now.
Voyage A New York silk
Voyage A New York
J: Derek Fox T: Lucinda Russell
Pulled up when last seen at Wetherby over three miles when never really getting in to the race at any stage and has a bit to prove at present after that run. His last win was back in 2016 off a far higher mark but it has been twelve losing races in a row now and although potentially well-handicapped on his best form that hasn’t been seen in far too long to make a case for him here.
Dun Faw Good silk
Dun Faw Good
J: Miss Catherine Walton T: James Walton
James Walton’s eleven year old ran on strongly to score over three miles at Carlisle in a Novice Handicap last time out to score by a length and three-quarters but he has been put up seven pounds for that success and is not sure to anywhere near as effective over this reduced trip these days. That was his first and so far only win over regulation fences (though he has won four point to points), and may be as good as he gets.
Havana Jack silk
Havana Jack
J: Danny Cook T: Leonard Kerr
A decent sort at his very best with both his career wins here at Kelso over three and a quarter miles and three miles respectively. Five runs since his last win and needs to come back down the handicap to score again judged on his fifth to Angus Milan last month and a drop of three pounds may not be enough to see him come home in front just yet.
Beau Sancy silk
Beau Sancy
J: Alison Clarke T: Kenny Johnson
Fairly safe to say he arrives here with a lot to find judged on recent efforts with a ninety-four length sixth of eight at Carlisle last month after starting at the back and never getting any closer before tailing off. A twenty-four length sixth over hurdles last December is the closest he has got to the winner so far in eleven starts and if he wins this the bookmakers will be the ones celebrating the loudest.
Log On silk
Log On
J: Conor O'Farrell T: Rose Dobbin
One point to point win from eighteen starts in total, five in point to points, three over fences and ten over hurdles. Yet to win under rules he has raced over hurdles on his last two starts with a ten length fourth at Wetherby last time, but he returns to fences now and hasn’t completed in three starts, pulling up at Hexham and Southwell before falling at Newcastle in February. Difficult to fancy when you look at that form and two pounds out of the handicap.
Jackofhearts silk

J: Sean Quinlan T: Jean McGregor
Twenty-nine starts now in bumpers, over hurdles, and with twelve runs worth of experience over fences, but yet to get to the front where it matters and he has a ridiculous amount to find on form. Beaten thirty-three lengths at Musselburgh last time after weakening half a mile out when the pace quickened up and his chances look slim to zero here carrying thirteen pounds more than his allotted mark.
