This is a shootout between Modus and WEST APPROACH, with preference for the latterly named Colin Tizzard trained seven year old. The former is two from two over fences and going the right way, but it wasn’t a strong Grade 2 that he won latest and West Approach was actually rated higher than him over timber. He shaped as though something was amiss on his latest start at Cheltenham, never jumping or travelling and this drop back in trip may be just what he needs. He can use the three pounds he is receiving from Modus to take victory.

Modus | J: Barry Geraghty T: Paul Nicholls
Lanzarote winner over hurdles who is now two from two over fences for Paul Nicholls, winning a small field Grade 2 on his latest start. He faces tougher opposition here in the form of West Approach who he has to concede three pounds to. Leading player but that weight could make all the difference.

West Approach | J: Robbie Power T: Colin Tizzard
Rated a pound higher than Modus over timber and won on chasing debut at Ffos Las in October, disappointing on his latest start at Cheltenham. He shaped as though something was amiss that day and if back to near his best he'll be a very strong contender with conditions perfect.

Le Boizelo (FR) | J: James Best T: Robert Walford
Won two starts ago at Sandown over hurdles but was very poor on his latest start, in last when unshipping his rider at the last. This is much tougher on chasing debut and he should be outclassed.

Report To Base (IRE) | J: Adam Wedge T: Evan Williams
Rated 135 over hurdles in a short career in that discipline, finishing a poor eighth on chasing debut after losing his place midway through the contest. He may have needed that run but nevertheless, he needs the front two to dip well below their best.
