2.30pm Wolverhampton tips for Monday’s Class 4 race. A field of twelve go to post for a seven furlong handicap at Wolverhampton on Monday. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: A very competitive event can be solved by EASY TIGER, who has been running with huge credit of late for Malcolm Saunders and deserves another win. His current mark is still more than fair, only narrowly denied at Chelmsford off one pound lower last month. He now drops back in class from a hugely respectable run last time and another big run is on the cards. There are plenty in with chances here but the main dangers are Exchequer and Boost.

1 EXCHEQUER – Hasn’t been seen for 370 day, last seen at Lingfield with a good second at Lingfield in Claiming company. That was a strong race for the grade though and he returns to handicaps off a very attractive mark. He makes his debut for David O’Meara and has to be respected, especially if the market supports him.

2 EASY TIGER – Last win came back in July 2017 off three pounds lower, not disgraced off a pound lower at Chelmsford two starts ago. He now crucially drops back in class though and can deservedly get back into the winner’s enclosure.

3 GENTLEMEN – Losing run stretches all the way back to July 2016, when he took a Chelmsford Handicap off seven pounds higher. Clearly well handicapped on his best and he should be much happier now he’s back up in trip, so he has to be respected under Josie Gordon.

4 SIEGE OF BOSTON – Three wins on the all weather in 2017 for John Butler before joining the David Griffiths team, struggling in Class 2 company on his latest start. That was always going to be tough though and he’s back down in class, so has to be considered.

5 FLORENCIO – Widest draw to contend with but he arrives here in good form, winning two starts ago before a good performance when fourth at Newcastle last time. He’s two pounds lower here and is an each way contender.

6 WHIRL ME ROUND – Useful form as a two year old for Kevin Ryan, including a second in the 2016 Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar. He makes his debut today for George Peckham on the back of a 394 day absence and others are preferred on that basis.

7 MAKAARIM – Well held on his latest start but he had excuses with the ground and prior to that run he was second at Chelmsford off one pound lower. He still has potential and is only making his second start for Hughie Morrison, so he’s one for each way players.

8 PHALABORWA – Course and distance winner in July and she’s been lightly raced since, not disgraced in two runs off comparable marks since that victory. She’s still low mileage but does need more off this mark, so she should find at least a few of these too good.

9 CUSTARD THE DRAGON – Southwell specialist who has won four times at that venue in 2017, unable to get his head in front anywhere else. He was well held off three pounds higher on his latest start and he needs to bounce back to his very best off such a lofty mark. Others are preferred.

10 TWIN APPEAL – Now eight pounds lower than his last winning mark but he’s been frustrating to follow, with his form fluctuating in recent times. He ran well on his latest start at Doncaster and is two pounds lower here, but others are more appealing as he isn’t guaranteed to back that up.

11 BOOST – Has won twice at this track for Sir Mark Prescott and she was far from disgraced when last seen in March, fourth in a course and distance handicap. She returns from 254 days with the headgear enlisted and she’s an obvious candidate.

12 INEXES – Two wins on the turf this year for Marjorie Fife but he’s failed to really threaten on the all weather, beaten two lengths at Kempton when last seen. That wasn’t a bad showing but this is a tougher race and he’s likely to struggle.
