14:25 - Market Rasen Preview & Tips
This can go to HUNTSMAN SON, who despite returning from over a year’s absence ran a cracking race to finish second at Uttoxter last month. The horse who beat him looks potentially useful and he’s well treated off a mark of 115 on handicap debut, not least due to the fact he should improve markedly for that run. Harry Bannister is in cracking form of late and he can take victory at the expense of Stick To The Plan, who has some good form in the book but should be anchored by his massive weight.
Returned this season when unseating on the run-in at Southwell, certain of victory at the time, running well off a pound higher when fifth at Cheltenham when last seen. This drop back in trip should suit and the ground is fine, so a bold bid is expected despite his huge weight.
Lettheriverrundry (IRE) | J: Brendan Powell T: Brendan Powell
Only one win over hurdles but he returned from a break to finish a close second at Fontwell last month, only weakening late on. A step up in trip is certain to suit and off two pounds higher he's an each way contender in his ideal conditions.
Aviator (GER) | J: Andrew Tinkler T: James Eustace
Won off five pounds higher back in June 2015 but he's been sparingly seen since, well beaten on both his runs in 2017. He was never any danger on that latest start and off only a pound lower he makes very limited appeal.
Huntsman Son (IRE) | J: Harry Bannister T: Alex Hales
Dual Point winner who returned from over a year off the track when second at Uttoxeter last time behind a useful sort. That was only his second hurdling run and off a mark of 115 on handicap debut he looks sure to play a leading role.
Kiwayu | J: Ryan Day T: Mike Sowersby
Another lightly raced sort over timber, winning two starts ago at Uttoxeter before a disappointing run at Sedgefield last time. He makes his handicap debut off a mark of 115 which is fair but the 436 day break makes this very tough.
Christmas In April (FR) | J: Nico de Boinville T: Nicky Henderson
One of Nicky Henderson's lesser lights but it is still early days, last seen posting a creditable fifth at Huntingdon. He makes his handicap debut off a mark of 114 and goes back up in trip which may suit, but others are far more interesting on balance.
Towering (IRE) | J: J. J. Burke T: Conor Dore
Formerly Nicky Henderson, winning three starts ago at Uttoxeter in a Class 5 event. Back in this grade he wasn't disgraced when fourth at Southwell last month. He's on the same mark here and goes in softer ground, but his current mark leaves him vulnerable against some interesting rivals.
Fair To Middling | J: Sean Bowen T: Peter Bowen
Has been chasing on all his runs this year, falling and unseating his rider on his last two starts. He now reverts to hurdling off a tough mark and this trip may not be enough for him based on his good efforts over fences. Best watched with his confidence at a low.
