Mahler Lad is still one of the least exposed in this field and has a chance if the first-time visor can get some improvement from him, Dun Faw Good was in good form towards the end of 2016 and made a respectable comeback run last month this step up in trip can suit but both have questions to answer. MISFITS is the selection, a course and distance winner last time at Musselburgh he surely has more to come over fences and the form of his last run has been franked by the second So Satisfied who has won since.
Mahler Lad | J: Lorcan Murtagh T: Donald McCain
Beat the well-regarded Bellshill in a point to point in March 2014 but has mostly disappointed under rules with a record of just 1-10, that win came last April at Sedgefield over 3m2f and he appeared to really appreciate the better ground that day. Poor on first run of the season last month and now has a visor on.
So Satisfied | J: Ross Chapman T: Iain Jardine
Yet to finish out the frame in 4 runs here with a record of 3122, latest run here was behind Misfits who is now on 2lbs better terms. Winner over 3m1f on Heavy ground at Catterick last time only 4lbs higher for that win but an overall record of 3-24 makes him no certainty to back that up.
Misfits | J: Blair Campbell T: Lucinda Russell
Has been much improved since fitted with a tongue tie which is retained today, up 7lbs for a win over this course and distance last month but jockey Blair Campbell removes 3lbs from that. Trainer and Jockey combination are profitable to follow when teaming up and he is 2lbs better off with So Satisfied for their run last time.
Achill Road Boy | J: Sam Coltherd T: Stuart Coltherd
Now running from a mark of 97 which makes him look nicely handicapped based on his 2017 form. Most of his runs have been at Ayr and is having his first run at this course, respectable 2nd last time in a weak race at Fakenham regular jockey cannot claim weight in this so is effectively 3lbs higher today.
Dun Faw Good | J: Jamie Hamilton T: James Walton
Record in point to points reads 4-11 but that is not matched under rules, had a considerable absence before reappearance run at Sedgefield last month never near enough to land a blow but staying on nicely after the last to get 4th. Step up in trip and better ground will suit and still fairly unexposed.
Nicki's Nipper | J: Callum Bewley T: Simon Waugh
Bought by Simon Waugh for £2,500 in November at the sales, this mare has been poor in 3 starts for the yard over fences and last time over hurdles at Kelso. Little to recommend on recent form to suggest she can win this race today.
Nelly La Rue | J: Stephen Mulqueen T: Victor Thompson
11-year-old mare with 39 runs in point to points and over rules, just one win to her name still though and that was in April 2015. Continued to slide down the weights and very little to recommend about her chances with her running from 17lbs out of weights here.
