.50pm Southwell Tips & Betting Preview 06/12/2016

The day’s feature race at Southwell and 14 line-up to compete for the £5,822 prize. Read on for our experts’ thoughts and betting tips.

IN SUMMARY: A few with chances here but none more persuasive than that of HE’S MY CRACKER. He has been running to a good level this year and looked as if he was crying out for further last time at Lingfield. Should be suited by this trip and he is one to take very seriously. Of the others, Captain Revelation can fill a place if showing his best form at a track that he saves his best for. Boots And Spurs can chase them home.

Free Code – Hasn’t won in seventeen runs since last scoring at Doncaster last June, the second of back-to-back wins. Only seventh of 10 at Newcastle 22 days ago in the same Grade and has a solid-each way chance if putting his best foot forward. Switched to Fibresand today and best watched for now given poor strike-rate.

Another Go – Lightly-raced with only seven runs so far but already a back-to-back winner at Redcar and Beverley this Spring. Upped in Grade after those wins and flopped both times against poor fields. Back down at this level for last two stars and hasn’t fared much better. Can be easily ruled out in this.

Welliesinthewater – 25% strike rate in 12 runs this year. Last win came at Doncaster in June over 7f but below form when twelfth of 15 in a Handicap at Chelmsford 15 days ago. Has won over C&D before and is of some interest back here but others have stronger credentials.

Captain Revelation – Winner of a Class 5 & Class 4 race here in the Spring but has been in mixed form since. Stone last of 11 in a Handicap at Chelmsford 33 days ago. Course winner and has a good record here so can be expected to go well in this line-up. Solid place-chance.

War Singer – Dual-purpose performer who has been Chasing recently, scoring in a Novices event at Newton Abbot two starts back. Makes Fibresand debut today switching back to the Flat, and fair performer on his day although he was dire when last seen on the level. Best ignored today.

He’s My Cracker – Has been running well at this level without winning. Only eighth of 11 in a Handicap at Lingfield three weeks shaping as if he needed further. Can play a big part if handling it round here and should give a good account. Player.

Boots And Spurs – Decent enough fourth of 10 on latest start at Newcastle 22 days ago over this trip. Won from this mark when getting up to score at here in January over 1m and can go close here given current mood.

Dusky Dawn – Only five runs so far for the yard and won here on second start in April over 1m. Plum last on most recent appearance at Musselburgh. Could go well back here but has been off for 178 days and best watched for now unless market speaks in his favour.

Falcao – Only one win at Cork over 6f in May when previously trained by Edward Lynam in Ireland, doing it nicely enough in a steadily run race by 1 ¼ lengths. Had first run when last of 12 almost two weeks ago. Has something to find on best form and makes his Fibresand debut today.

Starfield – Previously trained by Michael Appleby and 3 from 4 for him here. Last of 13 in a Handicap at Wolverhampton 13 days ago in a Class 4 over 1m1f. Back down in trip today and connections reach for first-time Blinkers. Hard to fancy judged on last few runs.

Capolavoro – Ran a career-best when staying on strongly to win by 2 ¼ lengths over 7f three days ago and turned out quickly here. Penalty to deal with here but chance of getting involved if handling the surface for the first time.

Bell Heather – Hasn’t won in eleven runs since winning at Lingfield on debut at Lingfield last August. Poor strike-rate tempers enthusiasm for this and only eleventh of 15 in a Class 4 Handicap at Chelmsford 15 days ago. Fibresand debut today and best watched for now. NON-RUNNER.

Personal Touch – Hasn’t won in fourteen runs since back-to-back Handicap wins last Summer. Well below form when seven lengths back in sixth in the race won by the re-opposing Capolavoro 3 days ago and one to take seriously if the market speaks in his favour given his yard’s good record here. Makes Fibresand debut today.

Tellovoi – C&D winner but not since 2014 and hasn’t won in 9 runs since winning at Musselburgh in May over 1m. Fifth of 14 at Newcastle 22 days ago and wasn’t beaten far at all that day. Can get involved if running to his best but all of his wins have come in weaker races and may be up against it here.
