2024 has been Cephalus’ year so far and he completed a hat-trick when winning well over course and distance last time out. He’s due to go up to a mark of 83 but runs under a smaller penalty instead, making now a good time to catch him.

Nine Tenths returns to handicaps after a couple starts in Listed company. She was a cosy winner at Wolverhampton last time out and this is a cracking opportunity to follow up, with her jockey taking 7lb off.
Dear My Friend has made a flying start to the year, having won all three starts thus far. That includes a very comfortable victory in a handicap at Lingfield last time out and a 6lb rise is probably manageable on that evidence.

Spartan Army brought up a hat-trick of victories when winning at Lingfield last time out and the switch to the all-weather has done him wonders. His unbeaten record on artificial surfaces can stretch to four here.
Fire Demon has been progressive so far this year and the form of his win at Kempton last time out has been boosted by the second who has won since. He remains lightly raced and unexposed in handicap company, which means further improvement could be on the cards.

Bystander won a novice event at Newcastle by almost five lengths in December and also scored on handicap debut over course and distance last time out. A 6lb rise seems fair enough and there should be plenty more to come.
Cover Up is a lightly raced four-year-old and his unblemished record in three starts on the all-weather certainly draws the eye. An impressive winner here over 5f last time out, there’s every chance he can follow up, despite a hefty 13lb rise.
Prince Of Zenda is a rapid improver and Hugo Palmer’s four-year-old was a very impressive winner at Newcastle last time out. It’s hard to argue with a 7lb rise and the son of Kingman should remain ahead of the handicapper.
Elegant Man is very lightly raced, having had just three starts to date. He was an excellent second to Rebel’s Romance in a Listed race at Kempton in December and this foray into handicaps will surely be a brief one. There’s little chance he has peaked already so the best is yet to come.

Barenboim is fairly well handicapped on some of his best form and his close third behind Spartan Army over course and distance last month was a cracking effort. If reproducing a similar performance here, he’s more than capable of making the frame.

Goldwyn wasn’t beaten far when third on debut for this yard over course and distance in January. He was a little too keen and didn’t get home as a result over an extended 2m4f at Newcastle last time out. The return to two miles can facilitate victory in this winnable event.
Hidden Law is another typically well bred Godolphin newcomer and his pedigree suggests he should be well up to winning this on debut. Charlie Appleby has a 42 per cent strike-rate from his 28 all-weather runners in Britain so far this year and that’s a positive omen here.
Suspicion was third behind a smart prospect on debut at Kempton in January and improved to get off the mark at the same track next time out. He had Vibrato and Devoirs Choice well beaten in behind that day and a 6lb penalty is unlikely to turn the tables.

Royal Mer has won three times on soft ground so far this season and managed to win easily at Leicester last time out. A 6lb rise seems more than fair and this is a good opportunity to go in again.
Kinder Kid has been progressive since switching to handicaps and he got off the mark in good style over course and distance last time out. A 9lb rise looks fair enough and it could be a while before the handicapper catches up with him.

Magical King has some fair form over hurdles and he got off the mark in a novice race here last time out. This looks like a fair mark upon returning to handicap company and he should be capable of winning more races.
Martin Plage was an easy of a point-to-point over 2m4f last April and he finished third on his bumper debut in a decent race at Cheltenham. This probably isn’t the strongest bumper in the world and he can get off the mark under rules at the third time of asking here.
Landlordtothestars was a winner over course and distance in January and was only narrowly denied in his last couple of starts. A reproduction of any of his last three efforts may well be enough here, despite a further 1lb rise in the weights.
Yaajooz returned after a break to finish second on handicap debut last week and he should improve for the run, as it was his first for 159 days. George Boughey’s gelding would have learnt plenty from the experience and it won’t be long before he gets his head in front.

Wedgewood completed a hat-trick of wins back in May and has perhaps struggled with her mark since. The handicapper is beginning to relent and it was an improved effort last time out. Now rated just 2lb higher than her last winning mark, a return to winning ways could be on the agenda.
